Emergency Eyewash Information  Portable Emergency Eyewash Information:Bradley's Portable Emergency Eyewash Units provide emergency protection in areas where permanent water supply is not available. Supplements permanent emergency eyewash fixture installations. The pressurized tanks are constructed of stainless steel. Eyewash heads are chrome plated brass. Flow rate from eyewash is approximatley 15 minutes. Regulatory Requirements OSHA/ANSI: General Requirements: 29CFR (code of regulations) 1910.151 states that"where the eyes or body of any person may be exposed to injurious corrosive materials", suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body shall be provided within the work area for immediate emergency use. ANSI Z358.1-2004- establishes uniform minimum performance and use requirements for emergency eyewash and emergency shower equipment. It also includes performance and use requirements for personal washes and drench hoses, which are considered supplemental to emergency eyewash and emergency shower equipment. Emergency Eyewash and Emergency Showers should be installed in accessible locations that require no more than 10 seconds to reach (equates to approximately 55 feet from hazardous areas). In areas where highly corrosive materials are present (acid or alkaline), emergency eyewash may be placed immediately adjacent to the hazard. OSHA requires that a suitable means for flusing and quick drenching of the eyes and body must be provided in areas where corrosive materials are used. Facilities that have areas where corrosive materials are used are responsible for ensursing that emergency eyewash stations and emergency showers are installed and properly maintained. Emergency Eyewash Stations and Emergency Showers must be available for immediate use in an emergency situation. The units must be flushed and tested and all repairs must be made promptly. |
